The Symbolism of Triangles at The Chakra Studio

The Symbolism of Triangles at The Chakra Studio

Humans have communicated in symbols since the dawn of our existence. They served to share ideas and ultimately led to innovation and of information being stored. So much so that we don’t often realise we are taking in ancient symbols and the energy that they hold.

Sometimes the most basic of shapes hold the most profound of meanings. We are comfortable having certain shapes around us and wary of others, for example a square is solid and safe (you’ll see it used a lot in company branding!) while a criss cross has more negative connotations leading right back to our school days and being told you’re wrong about something.

So what do triangles make you think of?

Balance? Strength? Shelter? A doorway to new things?

All these and more. The 6th century BCE Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras believed that geometry was the rational understanding of God, man, and nature and the symbolic triangle is a big deal. It is found in Christianity, Celtic wisdom, Freemasonry, Egyptian culture – pretty much everywhere.

When the mind knows itself and loves itself, there is a trinity, a trinity of knowledge, love and awareness.

The trinity is a powerful thing and means many things to many people >>>

  • Waxing, Waning, Full

  • Spirit, Mind, Body

  • Father, Son, Holy Ghost

  • Mother, Father, Child

  • Past, Present, Future

  • Power, Intellect, Love

  • Thought, Feeling, Emotion

  • Mother, Maiden, Crone

  • Love, Truth, Wisdom

  • Creator, Destroyer, Sustainer

  • Creation, Preservation, Destruction

For me, many of the above resonate but ultimately triangles mean strength and resilience. No matter how much pressure you put on one you can not break it. It is the same with the Chakra System: if you have kept them balanced they will be strong and you will be resilient.

Rebecca Campbell describes it brilliantly. She is not a square. No one wants to be a square. Simply put, if one of your four sides inevitably get replaced with ‘stuff’ then you can not be the best you. Be you, be balanced, be a triangle!

The triangle glyph (considered to be unique marks that collectively add up to the spelling of a word or contribute to a specific meaning of what is written) I have chosen for The Chakra Studio means TRANSFORM.

Transform is the best word I can use to describe how I want The Chakra Studio to evolve. I want to support people to transform their lives using vibrational therapies (Reiki, sound, colour and aroma), lifestyle adjustments (food, movement, breath work) and in time ancient Ayurvedic methods.

As this blog progresses you’ll start to see other triangle glyphs used to connect you deeper to this idea of strength, balance and resilience.
